I born in Puno a small city in Peru, that houses the famous Lake of Titicaca and the Fiesta de La Candelaria. I have hearing impairment (that I've since birth).
I then moved to São Paulo, Brazil and studied with a full scholarship in a extremely high level high school in São Paulo - Colégio Etapa, due to excellent performance on Math Olympiads.
Also I became General Director for Meninas de Ouro a project that, through the provision of mentoring with students or former students highlighted in the scientific Olympics, seeks to empower and help girls in the world of the scientific Olympics.
I got to know Effective Altruism's philosophy in 2021, after that I met many interesting people, among them Jaime Sevilla, who was my mentor for a year.
In 2022, along with Renan Araujo, I co-founded Condor Camp, a 10-day AI safety program for top talent students in Brazil. In 2023, Condor Camp evolved to become Condor Initiative.
Currently, since 2024 I am studying in Mathematics at USP.
I love everything that has to see a great collaboration of people from different backgrounds and stories to create something unique and beautiful, I find that extremely inspiring.
I love all the types of music, and I'm interested in all types of dance — here's a Spotify playlist of 275 favorite tracks.
I love to discuss topics about life, purpose and morality.
I am sympathetic to:
effective altruism (EA) — roughly, the use of evidence and careful analysis to figure out the best ways of making the world a better place, and;
the long-term value thesis — the idea that most of the moral value of our actions is determined by their consequences more than 100 years in the future.
Some top research I am interested:
how to prioritize the world's problems in order to figure out how to improve it as much as possible;
how to get the world's most talented people interested in, and working on, the world's most pressing problems (my work at Condor Camp);
reducing the risk of astronomical suffering, especially to have a future with less suffering, and for reducing and avoid the worst-case futures, reducing the most intense suffering.
I have been very influenced by the work of academics like Prof Robert Sapolsky, Prof Peter Singer, Prof Edward O. Wilson, Prof Hilary Greaves, Dr. Will MacAskill, Alex O' Connor and Prof Richard Dawkins.
Here's a list of books I recommend and I think influenced, and hopefully improved, my understanding of the world.
I sometimes listen to podcasts and YouTube channels. Some of my favorites are 80.000 hours, CosmicSkeptic, and Julia Galef.
